Dar Bozhiy (God Sent)

A pretty young girl, Anya Svetlova, who lives in a small town outside St. Petersburg, falls in love with Stas Neverov, the spoilt son of rich parents. When he finds out Anya is pregnant, he disappears and his mother tries everything, from money to threats, to persuade the girl to get rid of the baby. But Anya is adamant that she wants it.

Anya’s uncle Lev Borisovich Voronovskiy, head of the obstetrics department of a big St. Petersburg clinic, finds out what is going on and takes Anya in. Irina Berkutova, a doctor in the same department with a dubious reputation, is in love with Voronovskiy, who rejects her, so Irina decides to get her revenge at all costs. From a chance conversation she hears between doctors, Anya finds out that she will not be able to give birth herself and only a Caesarian section can save her life.

From distress, she goes into premature labour when Berkutova, who has never performed such an operation, happens to be on duty. The doctor’s arrogance and ambition stop her asking her colleagues for help. Instead, she destroys Voronovskiy’s conclusion concerning the need for a Caesarian and thus condemns Anna to death. The girl dies but her twin babies are saved. Berkutova is jailed for 6 years, during which time she nurtures plans for revenge. The parents of Stas Neverov, the twins’ father who disappeared, are notified that he has been killed for gambling debts. The Voronovskiys adopt the twins Grisha and Andrey, as they name the boys.

When Irina Berkutova gets out of prison, using false documents she finds a job at a private rehabilitation clinic, where she becomes the mistress of the Head Doctor Marchenko and the virtual boss of the clinic. Berkutova gets to know State Duma Deputy Kozyrev and suddenly Voronovskiy’s clinic is subjected to hundreds of different commissions and inspections. Then the Neverovs are informed that they have grandsons and it is suggested that they take them off the Voronovskiys. Lev Borisovich Voronovskiy suspects that the vengeful Berkutova might be the source of all his problems and, together with his wife, they consider how to protect themselves against her. With the help of friends, he gathers compromising materials that will destroy Berkutova, so she escapes to Canada. The head teacher of the school where the twins study tells them the secret of their birth, that they are not the Voronovskiys’ own children. The boys are amazed by this information, do not believe her and get the truth out of the Voronovskiys themselves. Stas Neverov turns out to still be alive and, when he finds out he has wonderful twins, decides to take them and bring them up as real men.

He gets a job as a sports teacher at their school. Grisha literally falls in love with him but Andrey, on the contrary, is hostile towards Stas, who tells the boys that he is their real father. Grisha is delighted; Andrey the opposite. Stas decides to kidnap the children and ask Berkutova to help him. Voronovskiy flies off to a medical symposium and, on returning to Moscow, finds out that Stas Neverov has taken Grisha. The police tell the Voronovskiys that their son has been taken to Canada using false documents.

The boy, of course, decides to return to his true family – his father, mother and brother. Stas and Berkutova are arrested.
