The Raskrutka

Producer — Pavel Korchagin, Felix Kleyman
Director — Egor Anashkin

The Raskrutka

The artist Oleg Petrushin, accused of murder and rape, is released from the Krasnodar remand prison for lack of evidence. The father of one of the victims takes the law into his own hands and kills Petrushin. At the same time, the villain Viktor Pertsev is arrested in Moscow for a double murder. The case is being handled by Captain Yuri Devyatkin and Panteley Evdokimov, an intern from the Ministry of the Interior Academy – their relations being a modern version of those between Zheglov and Sharapov. During a crime re-enactment, Pertsev manages to escape by killing a Prosecutor’s Office detective and friend of Captain Devyatkin. Oleg Petrushin’s sister, formerly a well-known pop-star, asks the Moscow Attorney Dmitriy Radchenko to prove her dead brother’s innocence. She tells him that there exists a diary that might help identify the real killer and rapist. Radchenko goes in search of the diary. Captain Devyatkin finds out that the repeat offender Pertsev used to be close to Oleg Petrushin’s sister: they had an intense affair. Devyatkin gets to know this woman, who is currently suffering after an unpleasant divorce, and tries to get information from her about Pertsev. But she refuses to talk, terrified by her former lover’s reappearance. Meantime, Attorney Radchenko is trying to find Petrushin’s diary and unexpectedly discovers that Petrushin is still alive. Radchenko attempts to find him but, together with his friend and partner, inadvertently gets caught up in a fight in which the brother of a local crime boss is killed. Radchenkos’ life now hangs by a thread.

Will he find the diary and help identify the real maniac? Who is the real Oleg Petrushin? Will Captain Devyatkin and Major Panteleev realise who was killed instead of Oleg Petrushin? What is the villain Viktor Pertsev’s part in all this? And what is the secret concealed in the artist’s hidden diary?

Dar Bozhiy (God Sent)

A pretty young girl, Anya Svetlova, who lives in a small town outside St. Petersburg, falls in love with Stas Neverov, the spoilt son of rich parents. When he finds out Anya is pregnant, he disappears and his mother tries everything, from money to threats, to persuade the girl to get rid of the baby. But Anya is adamant that she wants it.

Anya’s uncle Lev Borisovich Voronovskiy, head of the obstetrics department of a big St. Petersburg clinic, finds out what is going on and takes Anya in. Irina Berkutova, a doctor in the same department with a dubious reputation, is in love with Voronovskiy, who rejects her, so Irina decides to get her revenge at all costs. From a chance conversation she hears between doctors, Anya finds out that she will not be able to give birth herself and only a Caesarian section can save her life.

From distress, she goes into premature labour when Berkutova, who has never performed such an operation, happens to be on duty. The doctor’s arrogance and ambition stop her asking her colleagues for help. Instead, she destroys Voronovskiy’s conclusion concerning the need for a Caesarian and thus condemns Anna to death. The girl dies but her twin babies are saved. Berkutova is jailed for 6 years, during which time she nurtures plans for revenge. The parents of Stas Neverov, the twins’ father who disappeared, are notified that he has been killed for gambling debts. The Voronovskiys adopt the twins Grisha and Andrey, as they name the boys.

When Irina Berkutova gets out of prison, using false documents she finds a job at a private rehabilitation clinic, where she becomes the mistress of the Head Doctor Marchenko and the virtual boss of the clinic. Berkutova gets to know State Duma Deputy Kozyrev and suddenly Voronovskiy’s clinic is subjected to hundreds of different commissions and inspections. Then the Neverovs are informed that they have grandsons and it is suggested that they take them off the Voronovskiys. Lev Borisovich Voronovskiy suspects that the vengeful Berkutova might be the source of all his problems and, together with his wife, they consider how to protect themselves against her. With the help of friends, he gathers compromising materials that will destroy Berkutova, so she escapes to Canada. The head teacher of the school where the twins study tells them the secret of their birth, that they are not the Voronovskiys’ own children. The boys are amazed by this information, do not believe her and get the truth out of the Voronovskiys themselves. Stas Neverov turns out to still be alive and, when he finds out he has wonderful twins, decides to take them and bring them up as real men.

He gets a job as a sports teacher at their school. Grisha literally falls in love with him but Andrey, on the contrary, is hostile towards Stas, who tells the boys that he is their real father. Grisha is delighted; Andrey the opposite. Stas decides to kidnap the children and ask Berkutova to help him. Voronovskiy flies off to a medical symposium and, on returning to Moscow, finds out that Stas Neverov has taken Grisha. The police tell the Voronovskiys that their son has been taken to Canada using false documents.

The boy, of course, decides to return to his true family – his father, mother and brother. Stas and Berkutova are arrested.

Zakon i Poryadok. Prestupniy umiysel (Law & Order. Criminal Intent)

Producer — Pavel Korchagin, Felix Kleyman, Edward Wierzbowski
Director — Georgiy Nikolaenko

Zakon i Poryadok. Prestupniy umiysel (Law & Order. Criminal Intent)

"Zakon i Poryadok. Prestupniy umiysel" is the Russian version of the worldwide known American TV-series Law & Order. Criminal Intent. A group of professionals, consisting of two detectives-partners and their boss, uncovers the most incredible and intricate crimes such as murders, sophisticated frauds, etc. Each episode shows in-depth investigation, the brainwork of the main characters through which they try to understand the make-up of a criminal and to reveal him.

A real crime expert was on hand for the serial. In addition to helping adapt the screenplays and giving advice, he also makes a guest appearance on screen.

Law & Order is one of the series with the most spin-offs in the world and is in second place in terms of duration. It is distinguished by superb plots, excellent direction and outstanding acting. According to the serial’s creator — producer Dick Wolf, the serial’s creed is “only facts”, meaning that the heroes are not as important as the crimes they investigate. So the plots, with each episode recounting how a single crime is investigated, tell nothing about the cops’ private lives — first they gather clues, question witnesses and make searches; then they catch the criminal and hand him over to the public prosecutor, who ensures a harsh but fair sentence in court. In the USA, there are several spin-off series: Law & Order. Criminal Intent and Law & Order. Special Victims Unit. In fact, there are actually three Law & Order series. There is also the original version from which the other two were later spin-offs.
